WASHINGTON -- Police in Washington, D.C., say a man was shot near the Verizon Center.Spokeswoman Rachel Schaerr said officers responding to a call about noon Friday found a man suffering from a wound to an upper extremity. She didnt elaborate, but The Washington Post cited police as saying hed been shot in the face. Schaerr says the man is conscious and breathing.
