Cruz Control The Seattle Mariners could really use some power in their lineup and free agent slugger Nelson Cruz, who led the league with 40 home runs in 2014, might be the perfect fit. According to Fox Sports John Paul Morosi, the Mariners could be interested in the veteran outfielder, but might have trouble signing him due to his 2013 suspension for violating the league’s performance-enhancing drug policy. Seattle reportedly had a deal in place last winter, but backed out because of concerns relating to the suspension. Although Morosi, says when asked about their stance on the subject, a Mainers official said the team has no policy against signing players who have been suspended in the past for PED use. The source also noted that the Mariners have had discussions with Cruz and his agent. Seattle missed the postseason by just one game this season and could be in the thick of things again in 2015 if they can add a bat or two.
