UNIONDALE, N.Y. -- New York Islanders goalie Kevin Poulin has accepted the teams one-year, two-way qualifying offer. The 23-year-old Poulin, who would earn $1.3 million in the deal announced Monday, played in five games last season with the Islanders after being recalled from Bridgeport of the AHL on Feb. 23. He went 1-3 with a 3.02 goals-against average and .893 save percentage. In 21 career games with the Islanders, Poulin is 7-9-1 with a 2.76 goals-against average and .912 save percentage. Poulin made his NHL playoff debut this past season, appearing in two games of New Yorks first-round series against Pittsburgh. He had a 1.15 GAA and .933 save percentage in those games. Poulin, a fifth-round pick by the Islanders in the 2008 draft, will be competing to be the backup to recently re-signed veteran Evgeni Nabokov.
