CHASKA, Minn. --?Mark James played in the Ryder Cup seven times and captained the European side at Brookline in 1999. Here, the honorary life member of the European Tour gives his views on the 41st edition of the contest in Minnesota.Lee Westwood had a really bad time on Friday morning and there is a fair bit of pressure for him now to play well when he next gets a chance. He didnt just lose in the foursomes with Thomas Pieters, he looked unimpressive and out of sorts. I didnt see any part of his game that looked good.As a pairing it didnt come off and they failed to win a single hole, losing 5 and 4. But Lee was big enough to tell European captain Darren Clarke that his form meant he didnt warrant a place in the team in the afternoon, and that he wanted to hit some more on his own the next morning. He put some work in with his coach, Pete Cowen, on the range on Friday afternoon and he will have been stripping things back to basics with the hope of playing on Saturday afternoon.Lees performance hasnt taken away any of the question marks there were over him before this edition of the competition got underway, thats for certain; the doubts there were about him being in a position to play at his best here.Hes 43 years old and you do very well to play Ryder Cup at that age. If this is to be his last one, he would want so badly to at least go out winning a singles match and finishing with a win. That will be massively important for him.So he will be telling himself its just one session -- anyone can have a bad day and be good the next. Hes experienced enough to shut out all the pressure and the stuff that goes on outside the Ryder Cup and concentrate on playing well next time out.Its fair to say Lee would have had to be really disappointed to drop out of two sessions, but it is a measure of what a team player he is that he volunteered to do that for the good of the European cause. For me, he doesnt need to prove anything as a Ryder Cup player after all that he has done. Hes played in seven winning teams and this is his 10th appearance in the competition. At least he will have taken something from the positive mood there would have been in the European team room at the end of the day. They will have been thinking they did really well to get back to 5-3. After the 4-0 whitewash in the morning, coming back like that was incredible.A bad afternoon would have meant the match was completely over for them. But Darren [Clarke] gave them a good talking-to at lunchtime and they came out with renewed vigour, and played some pretty good golf. There is everything to play for now but Europe really have to keep the hammer down in the foursomes on Saturday. They will have to be at their best against a very good American side because if the U.S. are given an inch, they will take a couple of miles.Mark James was talking to Leo Spall Saucony Ireland Sale . Dallas hasnt ruled out the star quarterback for Sunday nights game against Philadelphia, but all signs point to Romos back injury pushing Kyle Orton into the starting role after two years of limited play as the backup. Surely Ortons name isnt the first that comes to mind for fans wanting a change after years of damaging interceptions, fumbles or, most infamously, the field goal flub when Romo dropped the snap on a kick that could have won his first playoff game in 2006. http://www.wholesalesauconyireland.com/ . After Mondays hard-fought loss, the wait seemed longer than usual. Getting set to go their separate ways for a short Christmas break, the Raptors coach credited his team for their effort on a seemingly impossible three-game road trip, urging them to build on that success when they get back to work at the end of the week. South Africa coach Allister Coetzee has called up four uncapped players for their end-of-year northern hemisphere tour but there is no place in the 33-man squad for Duane Vermeulen.?Vermeulen, the Toulon captain, has been excluded with a press release from the South Africa Rugby Union stating his conditioning is not up to international standard since his return from injury while he also plans to journey back to South Africa in November to be with his wife for the birth of their second child.?The Boks are also without Lwazi Mvovo, Juan de Jongh, Francois Hougaard, Francois Louw, Siya Kolisi, Sikhumbuzo Notshe, Frans Malherbe, Julian Redelinghuys and Scarra Ntubeni due to injury.Coetzee added: Apart from those players, other experienced campaigners such as Jan Serfontein, Handré Pollard, Cobus Reinach, Marcell Coetzee, Coenie Oosthuizen and Bismarck du Plessis are also not available. With a number of absentees, they have turned to uncapped players Bulls back-row Roelof Smit, Sharks flanker Jean-Luc de Preez, Cheetahs centre Francois Venter and his fellow Currie Cup-winning teammate Sergeal Peterson.Alongside their three Tests against England, Italy and Wales, South Africa open with a match against the Barbarians at Wembley. Coetzee has named two squads with a 30-man party focusing on the Barbarians match -- complete with 12 uncapped players -- before the 33-player group come together to focus on the three Tests.?We know that playing during winter in the northern hemisphere is always a huge challenge, Coetzee said. The conditions are different and it requires an even more physical and tactical battle and all Test matches played in Europe were almost always decided by small margins in the past.ddddddddddddYes, we have a long injury list, but we prefer to see it as an amazing opportunity for the players selected in the squad.
