Debutant Roshon Primus all-round efforts - a match haul of 7 for 68 and a key knock of 36 not out in the first innings - were instrumental in Trinidad & Tobagos nine-wicket win over Windward Islands in the opening round of the Regional 4 Day Tournament in Port of Spain. T&T needed only three days to complete the win, having gained an early advantage by bowling their opponents out for 142 in the first innings. Primus took 6 for 30 with his seam-bowling in one spell that reduced Windward from 31 for 2 to 50 for 8. It was only opener Devon Smiths unbeaten 86 and his 73-run stand with No. 10 batsman Delorn Johnson that lifted the sides total past 100. Shivnarine Chanderpaul (91) and Raymon Reifer (40) were the only other batsmen to get past 20. The match witnessed an all-round performance from offspinner Rahkeem Cornwall, who continued his rich vein of form from the series against Sri Lanka A.Chasing 305 for a win, Barbados batted for 80 overs after Leeward Islands declared on 164 for 6, 12 overs into the fourth day. Leeward Islands added 75 runs in those 12 overs, in a spell of play that saw Cornwall scoring a 51-ball 60 - his second half-century of the match - to lift his team from their overnight score of 89 for 5 as they looked to capitalize on a 140-run first-innings lead.Cornwall then removed Omar Philips in the first over of Barbados chase, before a second-wicket partnership of 109 which took 45.5 overs. That partnership was between Anthony Alleyne (84) and Shamarh Brooks (59). West Indies international Roston Chase then put on 62 for the third wicket with Alleyne in 13.5 overs, to keep Barbados interested briefly.
