While many fantasy football players are searching for value plays and sleepers, its just as important to think about the busts.Avoiding an early round dud can help you land potential breakout players in the middle rounds. Injuries are difficult to predict, but there are signs that indicate a player will disappoint at their draft cost. Here are a few players to be leery of in 2016:---KELVIN BENJAMIN (WR, Panthers)Benjamin is coming off a torn ACL and has struggled with his conditioning. Benjamin depended on volume during his rookie season and was able to get the targets because the Panthers were thin at receiver in 2014. Theres more competition for targets now with second-year receiver Devin Funchess, wide receiver Ted Ginn Jr. and tight end Greg Olsen. Benjamin had 145 targets in 2014 and caught 73 for 1,008 yards and nine touchdowns. At 6-foot-5 and 240 pounds, he seems like a good red zone threat, but only caught 4 of his 15 targets. Benjamin is being drafted in the third or fourth rounds of most drafts -- too high a price to pay.---JULIAN EDELMAN (WR, Patriots)Edelman missed seven games in 2015 due to a foot injury and had two procedures to fix it. Edelman is reliant on sharp cuts to get open on short routes and quarterback Tom Brady will miss the first four games due to suspension. Edelman has played 16 games one time in his career and the Patriots have more weapons in the offense and will spread the ball around more. Edelman is being drafted in rounds 3 and 4, ahead of some better options at wide receiver.---MATT FORTE (RB, Jets)Forte has been dealing with a hamstring injury for most of training camp and the preseason. Forte has 2,522 touches in his career and turns 31 in December. Forte averaged 4.1 yards per carry last season and missed three games. He has 10 rushing touchdowns in his last 29 games and loses even more value in non point-per-reception formats.---JIMMY GRAHAM (TE, Seahawks)Graham suffered a patellar tendon knee injury last year and its one of the worst injuries for a football player. Giants receiver Victor Cruz hasnt returned from the same injury since 2014, in part because it led to other injuries. Graham, who turns 30 in December, had a difficult time adjusting to a new offense with Seattle last season with two touchdowns in 11 games.---MATT JONES (RB, Redskins)Jones suffered an AC shoulder sprain in Week 2 of the preseason and is expected to be ready for the start of the regular season. Jones is being drafted high due to the volume hes expected to see since there arent great options behind him, but Jones isnt very good. He averaged 3.4 yards per carry in 2015 with eight games of double-digit carries and topped 62 yards rushing once. Jones also lost four fumbles.---DOUG MARTIN (RB, Buccaneers)In a contract year, Martin rushed for 1,402 yards and 4.9 yards per carry in 2015. He missed 15 games the prior two seasons and didnt top 3.7 yards per carry in either. He has nine rushing touchdowns over his last 33 games and he loses some touches to Charles Sims.---BEN ROETHLISBERGER (QB, Steelers)Roethlisberger is being drafted in most leagues as a top 5 quarterback. The absence of wide receiver Martavis Bryant, who is suspended for the year, is a big loss for the Steelers offense. Roethlisberger is very inconsistent. Roethlisberger was 15th in points per game in leagues with 6 points for a passing touchdown last season at the quarterback position. Over the last two seasons, he has passed for one touchdown or less in 14 of 28 games. In is 12-year career, he has played 16 games three times and missed four games last season.---This column was provided to The Associated Press by the Fantasy Sports Network, http://FNTSY.com . CHICAGO -- The Milwaukee Brewers dropped both ends of a doubleheader and lost two key players -- slugger Ryan Braun and pitcher Chase Anderson -- with injuries in the nightcap. They were thankful things werent worse.Braun and Anderson both appear to have escaped serious injury. That was about the only thing to go Milwaukees way Tuesday.Jason Hammel threw seven innings of two-hit ball, Anthony Rizzo jumped onto a wall to make a remarkable catch of a foul ball, and the Chicago Cubs beat the banged-up Brewers 4-1 to sweep a day-night doubleheader.Milwaukee was most concerned about Braun, who slid hard into the side wall in left field. He sprained his left knee and ankle, but there doesnt appear to be any structural damage.I think all things considered, it was probably the best-case scenario, Braun said. Well know more tomorrow. Well see how swollen it is tomorrow. If its real swollen, we might end up getting an MRI, but the MCL, ACL and all that stuff is intact, so thats a good thing.Anderson, who took a no-hitter into the eighth inning in his last start against Chicago, left after just two batters when he was hit in the left quadriceps with a liner off the bat of Kris Bryant.Stiff and sore, Anderson said when asked how he felt afterward. Theres really not too much pain. Luckily it got all the muscle, so its just trying to get the swelling to go down. That was the extent of the good news for the Brewers, who managed just one run and nine hits in the two games and have dropped seven of 10.Javier Baez hit a two-run homer while Hammel (13-5) struck out seven to extend his scoreless streak to 22 innings.Rizzo wowed the fans when the first baseman jumped on the wall with both feet, leaned into the crowd and made a one-handed grab of Keon Broxtons popup in the fifth.Rizzo joked that perhaps the play could earn him a spot on the U.S. gymnastics team. Ive been watching them for the last week and a half, two weeks, he said. I got a good dismount. Could have stuck the landing a little bit better, but Im pleased with it.ddddddddddddIn the opener, Trevor Cahill came off the disabled list to throw five innings of two-hit ball in his first start in nearly 16 months in Chicagos 4-0 win.Hernan Perezs two-out solo homer in the ninth off Travis Wood ended Milwaukees 17-inning scoreless streak. After another single, Aroldis Chapman entered and gave up a walk and infield single before striking out Martin Maldonado for his second save of the day and sixth with the Cubs.David Ross walked and scored on Bryants single to left in the third off Jhan Marinez (0-1), who relieved Anderson.Hammel had two hits and the Cubs took control on Baezs two-run shot to left-center in Chicagos three-run sixth off lefty Rob Scahill to secure its 13th win in 15 games. In the opener, Chapman got two outs to complete the three-hitter.Cahill (2-3) also drove in a run with a safety squeeze, and the Cubs added runs on a wild pitch and Addison Russells sacrifice fly off Matt Garza (4-5).With right-hander John Lackeys right shoulder still sore after he left Sundays start, Cahill provides an option if the Cubs need a replacement. He gave us something to talk about, manager Joe Maddon said.Cahill bunted a 3-2 pitch in the fourth, and first baseman Chris Carters flip home wasnt in time to get Chris Coghlan.Garza allowed five hits and threw 103 pitches in five innings. Tyler Cravy, Milwaukees 26th player, threw two scoreless innings.TRAINERS ROOMBrewers: Struggling RHP Michael Blazek went on the 15-day DL with a right forearm strain.
