It appears the Washington Redskins have some good news heading into the NFL season. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, quarterback Robert Griffin III will start for the Redskins in their Monday night opener against the Philadelphia Eagles. Griffin, who has not played in the preseason, was expected to meet with Dr. James Andrews this week for another evaluation on his surgically-repaired right knee. Andrews cleared Griffin III for practice before training camp and examined him again before last weeks preseason game at home. Griffin III told ESPN 980 on Tuesday that hes "not below 100 per cent." Part of that filing included the suggestion that Paxton breached the "no agent" rule. Paxton, now a member of the Seattle Mariners, was eventually declared ineligible and left the school for a Texas team in the independent league. Boras currently represents two of the last three compensation free agents on the market (with starter Ervin Santana the other) in Stephen Drew and Kendrys Morales. The Jays dont appear to have any interest in Morales, but could explore the possibility of slotting Drew in at second base.
