Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew has backed Emmanuel Adebayor and Connor Wickham to cause problems for Arsenal in Sundays Premier League clash.West Ham striker Andy Carroll scored a seven-minute hat-trick in the 3-3 draw with the Gunners last weekend and Pardew believes his target men can cause similar problems for Arsene Wengers defence.Players of that size, power and pace can terrorise defences, said Pardew, who will be unable to call upon the injured Dwight Gayle this weekend. Thats what we want Connor and Ade to do for us. Connors had some terrific games for us but just not enough of them. Palace boss Alan Pardew shows his frustrations on the touchline Weve really missed his presence at times. We took Adebayor in the last window because we were struggling to get Connor on the pitch. And Ade played well against Everton when he came on, so now Connors got competition, hes got to stay fit.Pardew managed Carroll at Newcastle and echoed West Ham boss Slaven Bilics recent comments that target men must work hard to stay in peak condition. Ed Chamberlin and Jamie Redknapp look ahead to Super Sunday I had Andy Carroll and I heard Slaven saying last week that the big guys, they need to really focus on looking after themselves, added Pardew. They are both heavy and aggressive players, who are quick, and that does make them more prone to injuries than most players. So they need to protect themselves in training sometimes and certainly protect themselves when they get injured, and look after themselves. We are educating Conor on that front. Its been stop-start with injuries for Connor and he hasnt had a run at it. Pardew reacts to Palaces goalless draw with Everton Weve been pleased with his progress and next year if we can stop this run of injuries he gets we can have a good player on our hands.Palace are unbeaten in their last three matches and lie 11 points clear of the relegation zone going into the weekend, although they have played a game more than Sunderland and Newcastle, who occupy the final two relegation places.Watch Arsenal v Crystal Palace on Super Sunday. He might be like Samson - gets stronger with the long hair and the beard, Jones said. Ive been really impressed with his work-rate. Ive been in contact with him to do certain things and hes done that. Hell certainly be in contention. While Wood is an option at openside, Jones hinted that it is his Northampton team-mate Teimana Harrison who is arguing the most convincing case for selection.James Haskell, Jack Clifford, Sam Jones, Mike Williams and Maro Itoje have been removed from contention, leaving England to examine their sixth-choice options in a position that has been problematic since the break-up of the 2003 World Cup-winning team.Harrison was replaced 31 minutes into the third Test against Australia in June for failing to bring enough physicality to the back row and Jones last month appeared to remove him from contention, stating he is unsuitable at this stage in his career, but he has since been encouraged by his recent revival at Saints.I was very impresssed with Harrison last week.dddddddddddd In a Northampton side that didnt do so well, that was the best performance Ive seen from a number seven in a Premiership team, he said.Chris Robshaw could be reinstated at seven, but blindside flanker is still viewed as his most natural home. Its always an option. Hes still got that six-and-a-half jersey tucked away, Jones said. Hes moved from six to six-and-a-half, so another half point to seven isnt really going to matter. At this stage hes still seen as our best six.Three of the 10 players ruled out of the entire autumn programme that is launched against South Africa on November 12 were injured at last months training camp in Brighton.Wings Anthony Watson and Jack Nowell and flanker Jones were removed from consideration, leading to criticism of the intensity of Englands spell on the south coast. On Sunday the 33-man squad depart for a week of warm weather training in Portugal and Jones has no intention of adjusting his methods.Well theres nothing to change. We want to train with intensity and injuries are part of rugby, Jones said. No one likes to see players get injured but were playing South Africa so we need to train with intensity to beat them. We havent beaten them since 2006.History shows that when youre preparing for a World Cup you need depth down to four and five in all positions. Stephen Donald was out whitebaiting and then kicked the winning goal in a World Cup final for New Zealand wearing a jersey that was too small. Thats the sort of depth you need. You never like to see players get injured but it presents opportunities for other guys to come forward. ' ' '
