Round One of TSN.cas 2013 Play of the Year Showdown wraps up with two dizzying plays by two talented star players. Zdeno Chara of the Boston Bruins shows off some serious skill, while the talented Patrick Kane of the Chicago Blackhawks demonstrates his quick feet. Will one of these two Stanley Cup winners ditch the rest of the competition and take the POY title? Charas POY entry encompasses some skills that most people wouldnt associate with the big defenseman - quick feet and smooth hands. As the Bruins work the puck in the Florida Panthers defensive zone, Chara receives a pass at the blue line, and instead of doing what everyone watching thought he was going to do (hello slapshot!), Chara pulls out size-defying move, shedding his coverage and finishing the play off with a sensational backhand. If we learn anything from this POY candidate, let it be that Chara is pretty nimble for a big man. Kanes nomination for 2013 POY is a fantastic mix of speed, agility and finish, all blending together to create an entertaining goal from an equally entertaining player. Kane comes through the neutral zone, backing up Dallas Stars defenseman Brenden Dillon. As they get to the top of the circle in the Stars end, Kane pulls out his finest Denis Savard impersonation, catching everyone off-guard. The move backs Dillon off far enough that Kane can let loose a seeing-eye backhander that wraps up this fantastic POY play in style.
