MADRID, Spain -- Atletico Madrid has reinforced its already solid defence by signing Martin Demichelis to a one-year contract. Demichelis arrives just days after Atletico signed Spain striker David Villa to replace Radamel Falcao. The 32-year-old Demichelis, an Argentine international, spent the past 2 1/2 seasons with Malaga, helping the team qualify for the Champions League for the first time where it reached the quarterfinals last campaign.
