Super Bowl winner Torry Holt has told Sky Sports he believes the logistics involved will make a London franchise difficult for the NFL.Holt, part of the St Louis Rams team known as the Greatest Show on Turf that reached two Super Bowls in three years and won Super Bowl XXXIV, has been in London ahead of Sundays showdown and earlier this week admitted that he felt the chances of a Super Bowl coming to the capital were more realistic than bringing a permanent team.Given the huge success of the International Series games in London, there has been plenty of talk about a team from Britain competing on a regular basis with a franchise based on these shores. Super Bowl 50 countdown All the build-up to Sunday night The popularity is not in doubt but travel, training, road trips and family upheaval are all issues that would have to be addressed, and as a recent player Holt says those who would represent the franchise would be all-important in any decision.I think the players would have something to say about that [London franchise] - they enjoy travelling here, spending time here but to move to a team and a franchise here is different, Holt told Sky Sports. Pick Six Neil Reynold has his storylines to watch on Sunday night You have to think about the health of the players and the travel. Relocating families, all those things have to be taken into consideration. I am sure the league would and I know the people in London and the commissioner would try to make it as comfortable as possible, but it would have to go through the NFL PA (Players Association). It is a long way ahead of us. The three or four games that are played here are suffice enough - the guys enjoy that. They know they come for a few days and will go back home. After Holts rather surprising admission that the Pro Bowl or even the Stateside spectacular that is Super Bowl Sunday could be played in London, we asked him to expand on his thoughts from earlier in the week.A Pro Bowl or Super Bowl is more realistic than an actual team, Holt added. When I think about a team, I think about travel thats involved. Will the guys being up for moving to and living in London? Londons a great place. I can see myself living here but I couldnt speak for all the other guys.I can foresee a Po Bowl or Super Bowl and it would sell out in minutes. People in the States may have an issue with it but it is pretty easy to travel. I think with all the fans and the way they enjoy the game, it could be likely. Torry Holt #88 of the St.Louis Rams was part of the Great Show on Turf The Pro Bowl was played in Arizona last year and back to Hawaii this year so they are looking at different sites, different locations and different things to do. A new energy and all that good stuff.Friday night saw the announcement of a Monday Night Football game in Mexico - with three International Series games also set for London. An agreement is in place with Tottenham and their new stadium as the game continues to grow and Holt admits the sky is the limit for the NFL with its competitive nature part of the appeal. It can go as far as the league wants to take it. Everybody has a genuine interest in the NFL now. Its a huge game, a fun game and a tactical game, said Holt. There is a lot of parity in our league and everybody can feel like there team has a chance to win the Super Bowl each year. There is a huge fan base in Mexico - its a Monday Night game which is a prime time game - thats huge and speaks volumes about how the people in Mexico view the game. And speaks volumes about Roger Goodell and the owners and what they are doing and where they are taking our game.We have 3 games in London, and in minutes they sold out. Thats awesome. When I got the call to come over here and talk about the Super Bowl, I wanted to do it. The fans know the game, they appreciate the game. They know the players and it makes it easy to come over here and talk football. The speculation went into meltdown mode, of the golden nugget variety. Billy Williams Jersey . -- Jonathan Drouin gave Halifax the boost it needed to edge host Sherbrooke Phoenix 3-2 in a shootout in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action. There are two ways to look at the St. Louis Cardinals offseason. The optimists will say that general manager John Mozeliak aggressively filled his two biggest needs, signing outfielder Dexter Fowler and reliever Brett Cecil to big contracts. And in doing so, he managed to hold onto the top prospects in his farm system, ensuring a bright future. The pessimists will say that he overpaid for both of them, and that could back the Cardinals into a corner when they need the financial flexibility to make other moves next season.Reality is probably somewhere in the middle, but one thing is certain: Mozeliak has boldly acquired two premium free agents that better position St. Louis to deal with the World Series champion Chicago Cubs in the NL Central. Our group worked tirelessly over the past few weeks, especially this past week at the winter meetings, Mozeliak said. There were a lot of things that we were chasing. In truth, the dealing began when the Cardinals fortified their bullpen by signing Cecil to a $30.5 million, four-year contract. The left-hander was the only relief pitcher that really fit their wish list, and should be able to deal with high-leverage situations ahead of closer Seung Hwan Oh. Cecil, who was slowed by a torn lat muscle last season, dominated down the stretch. He threw 3 2/3 innings of scoreless ball in the playoffs, confirming everything the Cardinals thought of him. They always have good teams -- good, winning teams, Cecil said of the Cardinals, and like I said, for my family and me, this is where we wanted to come. It was the best fit for us.It turned out that plugging up the bullpen was the easy move. Mozeliak knew that solving his outfield quandary would be more expensive, either in terms of prospects or cash on the free-agent market.Perhaps recognizing that, he sent veteran left-hander Jaime Garcia to the Atlanta Braves. The trade not only saved them the $12 million option the Cardinals exercised on Garcia earlier in the offseason, but it also landed them a pair of pitching prospects and second base prospect LLuke Dykstra.dddddddddddd.There were several options available to fill the Cardinals outfield hole, not to mention address their desire to improve their defense, speed on the base paths and get younger across the board. But their interest in Adam Eaton became moot when the Nationals swooped in with a better package of prospects, luring the 28-year-old outfielder from the White Sox to Washington. And if there was any interest in Ian Desmond, who converted from shortstop to the outfield for Texas last season, it didnt matter after the Rockies doled out $70 million over five years to grab him in free agency. Not surprisingly, the Cardinals turned their focus to Fowler -- assuming it was anywhere else all along -- and reeled him in last week. But it came at a steep price : $82.5 million over five years.Hes expected to take over center field, allowing Randal Richuk to slide to left.A lot has been written -- I dont know if you were questioning what we were trying to do or werent sure we were going to be able to finish, Mozeliak said. We certainly wanted to get this done, were excited we got this done.Fowler gives the Cardinals a top-of-the-order hitter. He gives them speed. He upgrades their defense and gives them more flexibility. And he provides some excitement in the clubhouse. This is a baseball city, said Fowler, who recalled seeing Cardinals shirts in the crowd during the Cubs World Series victory parade. Every time you come here, you see red everywhere. Just being a part of that and their winning culture was a big part of my decision. The moves Mozeliak has made this offseason, he hopes, ensures that the winning culture continues. But he also insisted that he isnt done, even if the big pieces appear to be in place.I think for us its going to be looking more at complementary pieces to what we have, he said. There is no doubt we still have work to do, but making a bolder-type move, I dont envision that. ' ' '
