Tim Fiorvanti recaps every match on Sundays WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs pay-per-view card, which takes place from The American Airlines Center in Dallas. Senior stats analyst Sean Coyle offers ratings worth a maximum of five points. Criteria for ratings is based on storytelling, in-ring execution, match?psychology,?timing and innovation -- worth up to one point each. The following is updated in real time.WWE SmackDown tag team championship: The Wyatt Family (Bray Wyatt & Randy Orton) def. Heath Slater & Rhyno (c) by pinfall (5:53)In the three-and-a-half years since the debut of The Wyatt Family in WWE, Bray Wyatt -- both solo, and as a member of the group -- has been involved in one high-profile rivalry after another; but until Sunday night, Wyatt was the only one who never held a title in the WWE.That changed in a hurry at TLC, though, as Wyatt and Randy Orton predictably decimated Heath Slater and Rhyno to become the second team to hold the SmackDown tag team championships.Slater and Rhyno received some great reactions from fans in the lead-up to their tag-title win but Sundays match provided them a quick dose of reality about where they stand in the pecking order during their entrance. Despite being the bad guys in this rivalry, Orton and Wyatt got a heros welcome, while Slater and Rhyno came in to relative silence. As WWE announcer Mauro Ranallo pointed out, Rhyno began the match for the tag team champions for the first time since they began tagging with each other, and once Slater was tagged in ring it was clear why that was --- he appeared overmatched in almost every way against Wyatt and Orton. Slater took a beating for a good chunk of the match, but Rhyno seemed to do what he had done best for their entire reign as he cleaned house upon re-entering.The most interesting wrinkle of all happened in the closing moments of the match, when Luke Harper emulated Ortons sacrifice from Survivor Series and ate a gore from Rhyno to save Orton outside of the ring. Orton then grabbed the blind tag, hit an RKO on Rhyno and sealed the victory to tremendous applause. There might be dissension among the ranks of The Wyatts down the line, but for now -- as was clear as both Wyatt and Orton draped their new titles over Harpers shoulders -- it appears they are as well-aligned as theyve been since Orton joined. No disqualification match: Nikki Bella def. Carmella by pinfall (7:39)This match took far too long to happen during their feud, but once Bella and Carmella got down to it, this no-DQ match was as advertised -- a violent sendoff to a long-brewing conflict.Carmella wore the wounds of the beating she suffered Tuesday on SmackDown after running down Bella on the microphone, and in the early stages she got her measure of revenge by channeling her inner Sasha Banks with some vicious kendo stick shots.Bella took control by kicking Carmella in the back and then throwing her into the video board on the ring apron. She then climbed onto the ring barricade and hit a well-executed spinning kick to Carmellas chin, but the finale came when Bella used a fire extinguisher to great effect and then hit the Rack Attack 2.0 to get the pinfall victory. Both of these women are now clear to move on and put this rivalry behind them, as evidenced by Carmella pointing to Natalya as Bellas secret attacker at Survivor Series. While this match wasnt a technical classic, it accomplished what it set out to do by getting Bella a sorely needed victory.Ladder match for WWE Intercontinental championship: The Miz (c) def. Dolph Ziggler (25:10)It would be incredibly difficult to match the intensity and natural energy of their previous matches, but in this final showdown, The Miz and Ziggler closed the last chapter of their feud with an appropriately vicious sendoff. This match started in a similar manner to their last couple of contests, with each guy swinging for the fences early and missing due to the familiarity of their opponents offense. The pace was slow and methodical for that reason, and even as ladders were put into play, most of the biggest swings early on missed their targets. Counter-offense proved to define this match, as Ziggler ate a face-full of ladder on multiple occasions before ultimately using a ladder to pull the The Miz into the ringpost using his momentum. It was clear that these guys were going to get enough time to tell a fitting conclusion to this lengthy story.A spinning DDT from Ziggler on The Miz was the first sign of a definitive advantage for either man, but even as he walked past Maryse on the outside he took far too long to take advantage. The Miz responded by dropkicking the ladder into Zigglers face and then shoving it into a prone Ziggler in the corner multiple times. Yet again, though, neither man had a chance to settle down for long, with Ziggler neutralizing The Miz and springboarding off a ladder bridge to hit a Shawn Michaels-esque flying elbow drop. The Miz took over this match completely by working over Zigglers knee for a solid five-minute stretch, including a figure-four leglock with Zigglers leg looped through a ladder. Even as Ziggler tried to superkick The Miz, his injury didnt allow him to do it and he ate a Skull-Crushing Finale face-first onto the ladder. There were a few other truly creative spots, but The Miz hanging from the loop holding the title belt and Ziggler shaking him free and then using the ladder as a weapon was another big moment. The Miz, who proudly proclaimed I never get injured in the lead-up to this match, landed awkwardly on his knee and continued to sell that throughout the rest of the match. The Miz bounced Ziggler off the top rope and then powerbombed him into a corner ladder, and the match continued to build until both hobbled men climbed two ladders next to each other in the center of the ring. The Miz took advantage against Ziggler, who climbed both ladders at the same time, and hit him with two low-blow kicks to send Ziggler falling for the final time. One rivalry is undeniably over, and Zigglers future is uncertain, but the ongoing conflict between The Miz and SmackDown general manager Daniel Bryan took center-stage in a promo just before the match and immediately afterward.I want to dedicate this win to the SmackDown general manager Daniel Bryan, The Miz said immediately after the match. Without your motivation, always hating me, and denying me, and giving Dolph Ziggler chance after chance after chance, it motivated me to be the greatest Intercontinental champion ever. While its hard to figure out exactly how this conflict will continue with Bryans physical condition, The Miz has clearly not seen the end of the wrath of his GM.Chairs match: Baron Corbin def. Kalisto by pinfall (12:51)Much was said about how the element of chairs in this match placed things on more of a level footing in terms of the storyline between the 6-foot-8 Corbin and the 5-foot-6 Kalisto. But very few pointed out how ugly and one-sided it could also get with the chairs in play. The early minutes of this match leaned far more heavily toward the latter, but a drop toe-hold into a chair wedged into the corner by Kalisto and a leap onto Corbin that put his back through six chairs set up in the middle of the ring changed that tune in a hurry. Corbin regain the momentum with a perfect little-guy versus big-guy spot; as Kalisto dove through the middle rope with a tope suicida, Corbin caught him in mid-air and spun him around several times before landing a Deep Six onto the floor.Say what you want about this match, but both men did a great job conveying just how much they were supposed to hate each other. Corbin missed chair shots as Kalisto did everything to stay one step ahead of the crash, and Kalisto sacrificed his body with an incredible moonsault into double-knees onto a prone Corbin with a chair laying on his chest.Kalisto connected with a great number of chair shots of his own, and set up a pile of chairs for a Salida Del Sol, but a chair smash to the face of a flying Kalisto and an End of Days from Corbin onto said pile of chairs brought the match to a swift end. Both superstars put their all into this match, and while the crowd was still coming down from the ladder match, there was a fair bit to like about this conflict between two under-utilized talents.Tables match for WWE SmackDown womens championship: Alexa Bliss def. Becky Lynch (c) (15:16)Just as the chairs match element seemingly leveled the playing field in the previous match, making this a tables match created one of the hardest outcomes of the night to predict. Sure, Lynch was already pushed from the top rope through a table in the build-up, but having a certain element of luck in play always gives the underdog an advantage they wouldnt otherwise enjoy. Both women really laid the punches and kicks in on their opponents, and both Lynch and Bliss really lived on the edge early in this match as they each teetered on the ring apron and teased falling through the table below. The pace of this match was somewhat off throughout, unfortunately, and while there were moments of excitement and some cool spots, both Lynch and Bliss took a little too long setting up tables on several occasions.Bliss had the lengthier advantage after doing her signature continuous stomps to the back of the head, forcing Bliss face into the mat. At some point the teases of running into or through the table, though well done, started to become a little bit much; there was one particular moment, however, when Bliss DDTd Lynch onto the metal edge of an upside down table, where the challenger looked positioned to take control and brought a somewhat quiet crowd back into the match. The pace of this title match certainly picked up in the latter stages and, after an eye rake, Bliss powerbombed Lynch from the apron through the table that lingered on the outside of the ring the entire match. Bliss became the second new champion of the night and, while she isnt quite the in-ring technician Lynch is, she provides a great top heel for the talented womens roster to chase in the coming weeks and months.TLC match for WWE world championship: AJ Styles (c) def. The formidable trio of Canadian receivers -- individually known as Chris Getzlaf, Rob Bagg and Andy Fantuz -- will share the field at Mosaic Stadium one more time on Sunday. Corey Seager Dodgers Jersey . Roman Josi had a goal and an assist to lead the Predators to a 4-1 victory over the Dallas Stars on Monday night. Hyun-Jin Ryu Jersey . On Saturday night, the normally free throw-challenged centre did just that. Howard scored 18 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter, including 13 of 19 free throws in a 2 1/2-minute stretch, and the Houston Rockets beat the Denver Nuggets 122-111. There were equal elements of awe and absurdity in Charlottes corkscrew moonsault off the top rope and onto the floor on Monday night which echoed the current state of WWEs flagship Raw brand. In one sense, Charlottes high-risk move was another step in the rapid evolution of the WWE womens division. In another, the move was sloppily executed and more dangerous than it was worth, with both Charlotte and Sasha Banks (who was able to get underneath it just in time to help absorb the impact) lucky to avoid serious injury. The same could be said about WWEs choice to have its Raw womens championship change hands on Monday for the third time in three months as Banks went on to submit Charlotte and regain the title, setting up a likely return match at Hell in a Cell on Oct. 30 in Banks hometown of Boston.Having its top two female superstars in Mondays main event was a strong and necessary statement unto itself, with their feud having produced some of Raws top moments since the July brand extension. But there was an equal level of break glass in case of emergency feel to the outcome thanks to Raws current position.Over the past year, Raw has often been at its best immediately following a stretch of sagging ratings and poor critical reception, with the negativity helping to motivate WWEs creative team in ways that the companys lack of legitimate outside competition has been unable to.Raw certainly found itself in the same position on Monday. Yet, for as entertaining and physical as Banks victory over Charlotte was, the result felt more like a desperate reach for ratings than the next logical step in their story. It also felt like a band aid to cover an otherwise uneven show.Instead of Banks title win -- her second on free TV in the past three months -- further cementing the feeling that anything can happen at any time on Monday night, it reinforced Raws lack of consistency despite an advantage in resources compared to in-house rival SmackDown Live.Thats not to say that Raw didnt have plenty of strong moments on Monday, or that Banks-Charlotte did anything to dissuade the idea that they are already deserving to one day soon headline a pay-per-view. But both the show and the match relied on high spots and flash for entertainment as a cover for a multitude of sins underneath.Raws gamble ultimately worked on Monday largely because of the undeniable talent and envelope-pushing nature of Banks and Charlotte, whose rivalry appears destined for greatness. This type of booking, however, cant become the norm for Raw as it struggles to produce equally compelling content on a week-to-week basis. If the recent brand extension has taught us anything over the past three months, its that the writers of SmackDown Live are providing the blueprint to where WWE should be headed by keeping it simple and allowing the personality of their characters to organically grow without compromising the natural progression of the overall story.Charlottes moonsault and Banks surprising win were great treats to behold within a vacuum, providing plenty of next-day headlines and must-watch GIFs on social media. But its where Raws creative direction goes from here that will decide whether the timing was worth it.Hits and missesIts becoming difficult to discern whether Sasha Banks is a master at selling, or whether her increasingly-reckless style leaves her legitimately hurt after most spots. Either way, despite its entertainment value, her match with Charlotte on Monday felt a bit too much like their high-spot littered match at SummerSlam and less like their July 25 classic on Raw. Heres to hoping the two talented women slow things down just a bit to avoid the kind of injury that might derail their otherwise enthralling rivalry.THIS. JUST. HAPPENED! #RAW #WomensChampionship @MsCharlotteWWE @SashaBanksWWE pic.twitter.com/RndCp73X0r- WWE (@WWE) October 4, 2016With fatigue at an all-time high in the Roman Reigns-Rusev feud following their 35-minute match (not a typo) to open last weeks episode, the pairing did well to restore interest during a short and powerful segment to open this weeks Raw. Reigns and Lana continued to prove how well they work together by trading one-liners, including Lana using her charm and accent to humorously exclaim, Wipe your smile off your face, you stupid boy. While the brief brawl between Reigns and Rusev was fast-paced, fun and violent, it was a return to the overall storyline (however clunky it appears on paper) of the maniacal Rusev fighting for his wifes honor that brought structure back to the feud. The slow burn feel to the build of Seth Rollins feud with?Triple H, and by proxy Stephanie McMahon, is becoming increasingly more compelling than his actual feud with Universal champion Kevin Owens. Rollins run-in on Monday, costing Owens in his tag-team match against The New Day, was predictable and ineffective. But the use of a pre-taped sitdown interview with Michael Cole did well to add depth to the mindset of Rollins character, as did his backstage argument with McMahon, where Rollins once again threatened to burn Raw straight to the ground and take everyone with him.dddddddddddd While fans are undoubtedly worn out by the idea of another babyface vs. The Authority storyline, seeds for an eventual payoff between Rollins and Triple H had been planted for more than a year. If anyone can make this work, its Rollins, with McMahons evil smirk as he walked away teasing of more to come.Just about everything Brian Kendrick has touched of late in his return to WWE at the age of 37 has turned to gold. From his look to his heel promos and his strong in-ring work, Kendrick has quickly become the backbone of the WWEs new cruiserweight division. While Im almost never a fan of champions losing cleanly in non-title matches on free TV, Kendricks submission victory over T.J. Perkins on Monday worked well within their overall storyline. Perkins, the champion, may have been slightly weakened with the loss, but considering his booking as a fresh-faced newcomer who has constantly overcome the odds, it will only add fuel for his retribution at the next PPV.Speaking of cruiserweights, in just two appearances on Raw, Tony Nese has already established himself as must-see within the division. Nese has done well to build a cocky heel persona with a style that perfectly balances physicality with athleticism. Hes like a nastier version of Neville, with much more personality to his character.Just as viewers began to grow tired of Braun Strowmans weekly run of squashes, it was smart booking this week to have Strowman share in that displeasure, while finally being allowed to talk. Having him call out general manager Mick Foley was a nice touch, with Strowman saying that if he doesnt start getting me some real competition next week, there might not be a next week. His full-speed corner splash on enhancement talent Chase Silver this week was as vicious and stiff a move as we have seen from Strowman up to this point. As much as I want this Sheamus and Cesaro pairing to work out for both performers, neither can carry the load from a talking standpoint that is currently being asked of them, which was apparent on Monday. For as much credit as Raw deserves for playing to its strengths by creating a dialogue segment (and subsequent tag team match) allowing five of its best talkers to work their magic, the momentum was quickly destroyed by gratuitous celebrity involvement. The New Days interruption of Owens and Chris Jericho produced a series of hilarious one-liners that was the heart of Mondays three-hour show. But allowing actors Ashton Kutcher and Danny Masterson to hijack the show with a forced backstage segment and a painfully long guest role on commentary was unacceptable. Fans can put up with celebrity crossover to a point, even if the forced attempts at humor and constant plugs for their upcoming movies and shows becomes annoying (which this weeks certainly was). But Kutcher and Masterson were given way too much liberty to act like heels without any notion of comeuppance for their reckless ways, which only put themselves over while burying both the in-ring talent and the announce team they took shots at. Ask yourself this: Would Roddy Piper have been OK in 1985 with an actor showing up on camera and grabbing his gimmick out of his hands as Masterson did by commandeering the List of Jericho without any legitimate payback? While the handling of kayfabe is much more relaxed in 2016, WWE should have done better to protect itself.Actor Ryan Phillippe was given a front-row seat to Raw on Monday in a cross promotion for his upcoming USA Network show Shooter. So what did the 42-year-old do when the camera panned his way? The same thing any of us would have done had when we were 15, of course: a D-Generation X style crotch chop. Well played, Phillippe. Well played.Move of the nightIt would seem as if this were a no-brainer, with Charlottes corkscrew moonsault from the top rope drawing the biggest oohs and ahhs from viewers. But despite plenty of respect for her attempt, she nearly missed the dangerous move altogether. This weeks honor goes to Xavier Woods of The New Day, who often fails to get the credit he deserves as an actual wrestler because of how often his ability on the microphone relegates him to the role of quasi-manager. But Woods textbook Tope Con Hilo onto Kevin Owens was an absolute thing of beauty.THERE GOES @XavierWoodsPhD!!! #RAW #NewDayRocks pic.twitter.com/CmRcU1LwGL- WWE Universe (@WWEUniverse) October 4, 2016Line of the nightTogether, youve compromised the health and safety of children all over the world by feeding them questionable cereal.
