NEW YORK -- The New York Jets were waiting for results from tests on Bryce Pettys injured chest before making a quarterback decision.Petty was scheduled to have a CT scan on Sunday to make sure he didnt have a bruised or punctured lung after being knocked out of New Yorks 34-13 loss to the Miami Dolphins on Saturday night. X-rays at the stadium were negative.During a conference call, Todd Bowles said Petty was still having tests. The coach added that the Jets would wait until they received the results before they determine who will start at quarterback at New England next Saturday. Were going to meet and discuss everything later, Bowles said. We havent gone through all of the film yet this morning. Were all going to meet this afternoon.Petty was hurt on the first play of the fourth quarter when he got sandwiched by Cameron Wake and Ndamukong Suh as he completed a 28-yard pass down the right sideline to Robby Anderson. He was replaced by former starter Ryan Fitzpatrick.Ill be good, Petty said after the game. A little sore right now, but Ill be fine.It appeared few players on the offensive line other than center Wesley Johnson moved at the snap, and Wake and Suh easily converged on Petty in the backfield. The quarterback called it a miscommunication, but wouldnt go into details on what happened on the play.Petty got off to a good start in his third NFL start, capping an impressive first drive against the Dolphins with a 40-yard touchdown pass to Anderson. But New Yorks second possession ended when Petty was sacked by Wake and fumbled, and Suh recovered deep in Miami territory. With the Jets at the Dolphins 27 and driving midway through the second quarter, Petty had his pass intended for Brandon Marshall intercepted by Wake.Petty finished 20 of 36 for 235 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions before leaving with the injury. He started the game more confidently, obviously leading the first drive, Bowles said. Other than that, theres still things he needs to work on.If Petty cant play next weekend, it would appear Fitzpatrick would get the start against the Patriots. Rookie Christian Hackenberg is the only other quarterback on the active roster.Hackenberg, a second-round pick, has been inactive all season and is largely considered a project who isnt ready to play in a regular-season game.As far as other injuries, Bowles said tests on defensive lineman Leonard Williams chest injury were negative. Right guard Brian Winters (shoulder) was still having tests conducted, and Bowles said the status of linebacker Darron Lee (left eye) was unknown.Game notes RB Matt Forte played despite having a torn meniscus in his right knee. He finished with 21 yards on four carries and one catch for 7 yards. Its something hes dealt with and hes had before and hes played with before, Bowles said. He said he felt OK to play some. He wanted to play, and knowing Matt and taking him at his word, we wanted to play him a little bit and spell Bilal (Powell), but not overdo it playing him. He felt good enough to play and he moved around well. Bowles added that the injury was not worsened by Forte playing. ... Bowles on if he is considering any changes to his staff after the season: Thats something well discuss after the season. Right now, we have two games to play. ... Bowles said RT Brandon Shell did OK in his first NFL start. Shell, a fifth-rounder this year, is the great-nephew of Hall of Famer Art Shell. He missed some things, but he played tough, he played hard and he did better than we thought he would, Bowles said. We helped him a little bit, but he held his own in there, too. I was pleased with what he did.---For more NFL coverage: http://www.pro32.ap.org and http://www.twitter.com/AP-NFLMilwaukee Brewers Shirts . RIO DE JANEIRO -- Kayla Harrisons mother, Jeannie Yazell, stood outside the judo arena early Thursday evening, beaming with pride and joy after watching her daughter earn a second Olympic gold medal in the sport. Yazell also wore a T-shirt bearing Harrisons image and the word FEARLESS in capital letters.Being fearless is an important thing for Harrison, not just on the mat but everywhere. Especially after all she has been through. Our family is extremely competitive, even playing a game of Uno, Yazell said. She is extremely competitive. Her fearlessness comes from every adversity that she has been through -- and she has been through so much adversity that no one can break her. These girls are tough, but there wasnt anything that could break her mentally coming into these Games.Or during the Games, either.Harrison won her second gold medal Thursday, beating Frances Audrey Tcheumeo in the 78-kilogram division final. Harrison cried four years ago in London after becoming the first American -- female or male -- to win Olympic gold in judo, but she was all smiles this time. The first time I won gold I cried because I couldnt believe it. I couldnt believe I was Olympic champion, the first ever for the United States, she said. And this time around I was a woman on a mission. I wanted to retain my title. I knew it was going to be a long hard road, and I am happy. There will be no sad tears from me for a long, long time.Harrison has had many times to cry in her life. Not only did her father die a few years ago, but she was sexually abused by her judo coach for several years from at least age 12 (the coach was sentenced to 10 years in prison). Because of that abuse, Yazell said, Harrison was moved from the family home in Ohio to Massachusetts to help her get away from that horror.Once there, she began working with two highly respected coaches, Jim Pedro and his son Jimmy, who is a two-time Olympic bronze medalist in judo.dddddddddddd They helped make her the champion she is today.Shes a young lady that has overcome such adversity in her life that no judo match can compare to what shes been through, Jimmy Pedro said. As an athlete, she always gives 100 percent and does everything thats expected of her. She listens, she adapts, she can follow a game plan. She never skips a workout. She is as dedicated as they come, and she is as tough as any athlete Ive ever been with. With two gold medals, Harrison says she will retire from competition -- What else is there for me to do in judo? -- and try to grow the sport. More importantly, she also will focus more on helping sexually abused children and adults to cope with the trauma. After the London Olympics, she started the Fearless Foundation for that purpose.I set up the foundation to try and help survivors of sexual abuse through education, through sports, she said. There is a lot of stuff going on, and its just in its infancy. Being a two-time Olympic champion is an amazing thing, but the Fearless Foundation isnt about me; its about helping people who need help. And essentially being to someone else what the Pedros were to me. They saved my life and changed my life. They also taught her to not be afraid, despite all she had experienced. When I talk to them, they tell me, Kayla Harrison, be fearless. Unleash, and you will be Olympic champion, she said. And I want young boys and young girls to feel fearless and to know there is a light at the end of the tunnel and there is a shining gold medal.Maybe even two. ' ' '
